14-Yr.-Old Cyclist Hurt After Falling Over Ledge

A bike.

A long drop.

It has all the elements for danger and it combined to injure a 14-year-old boy in the city core on Thursday.

Rescue workers raced to the scene at Old Mill and Bloor around 1:40pm, after receiving reports that a bike riding 14-year-old had somehow fallen off his two wheeled vehicle and gone over the edge of a 50-metre embankment.

Crews had to climb down to reach the fallen youngster.

“He lost his balance off the bike and tumbled down the side of the hill,” explains Sgt. Robert States. “So we’re still investigating that side of it there.”

The teen was with his friend at the time, but investigators are still trying to determine how and why he went over the edge.

His pal wasn’t injured.

Police are investigating whether alcohol was involved in the fall.
