Gold Digger

There’s gold in that there lawn!

A homeowner in Montclair, California admitted he went a bit overboard after he dug an 18-metre hole in his front lawn.

Henry Mora started digging after his gold detector apparently picked up traces of the precious metal around his front patio.

“I figured, well, maybe there’s something down there — you would logically conclude, right? So I started digging,” the 63-year-old said.

As he got deeper, he claims he found traces of gold dust and his detector kept hinting he was getting closer, but neighbours started getting concerned about the huge mound of dirt on the lawn and called local authorities.

Fire officials shut the amateur operation down before Mora struck gold and ordered him to hire an engineer to safely refill the crater on his lawn.

He may not have struck gold, but maybe he found the seeds to plant money tree.
