Police Not Seeking Suspects In Deadly Overnight Attack

York Regional Police are investigating after finding a woman in her 50s dead and a man injured at a Richmond Hill home Thursday night.

A man believed to be the couple’s son called authorities to the residence at Bayview Ave. and Major Mackenzie Dr.

“We were called here by a male party,” confirmed Det. Mark Charlebois.   “We found what appear to be his parents.   He was requesting help.”

“When we arrived here we found one person was vital signs absent, one person was still conscious but unresponsive.   I don’t have any details as to his injuries.”

Charlebois wouldn’t elaborate on the nature of the incident, but admitted that no one was in custody and that the investigation is ongoing.   Earlier reports that the two were found in a pool of blood weren’t substantiated.

“This is suspicious, that’s all I can say at the time,” concluded the detective.

The injured 64-year-old man was taken to Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, where his condition is critical but stable.

Police said they weren’t seeking a suspect in the case and wouldn’t confirm the relationship between the man and woman or the likely cause of their injuries.

Neighbours contend the woman had moved into the home about three weeks ago. She’s now been identified as 58-year-old Kamlesh Dhingra.
