Carmen Electra & Dave Navarro To Split

Apparently, Carmen Electra still has some oats to sew.

Despite a career defined by her limelight-flooded flings with the likes of Dennis Rodman and Prince, the former Baywatch star and musician hubby Dave Navarro are splitting after less than three years of marriage.

Electra’s publicist Brit Reece made the announcement Monday, but wouldn’t elaborate on the reasons behind the at least mildly surprising break up. It’s said to be mutual however, and has long been expected considering the duo has been showing up separately at events.

For his part, Navarro is most famous for his guitar work in two legendary 1990s rock bands, the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Jane’s Addiction.

In the time since he stopped playing with those bands, he’s starred with Electra on their own, ironically titled MTV reality show “Til Death Do Us Part: Carmen & Dave.” The show began with their 2003 wedding and chronicled the couple’s first year of marriage.

Though it’s hard to understand how such a thing could happen, the duo claims to have met on a blind date, where “it was love at first sight,” according to Electra.

But it looks like that plan didn’t quite work out. Luckily, the heavily tattooed and pierced Navarro has found a home in the “reality” world, and now co-hosts the television talent competition Rock Star.

All in all the change is probably a good thing, since it’s fair to say he knows more about jamming on stage than being part of a successful marriage.

Still, for the better part of their tenure the pair was among celebrityville’s hottests items, ranking below the likes of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, but still spending more than their fair share of time subjected to media scrutiny.

And now that, like their marriage, is over.

At least for now.
