Brangelina To Donate $2 Million To Humanitarian Charities

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are putting their money where their mouths are.

The new parents will donate $1 million each to two humanitarian organizations – Global Action for Children and Medecins sans Frontieres/Doctors Without Borders – the couple’s spokesperson said.

“Brangelina” can definitely spare the cash. In June Jolie said she earns a “stupid” income for what she does for a living and Pitt earns about $25 million a year. The Oscar-award winning actress is also a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations High Commission for Refugees. The international agency assists some 20 million refugees in 120 countries.

“In the most troubled parts of the world – places that much of the world has abandoned – MSF is always there,” Jolie said in a statement. “I have seen these brave men and women working in war zones and horrific conditions and I deeply admire them.”

Jennifer Delaney, the U.S. director for Global Action for Children, expressed her gratitude to the celebrity pair for their donation.

“Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt not only care, but more important, are taking concrete action to address the fact that there will be 20 million children orphaned by AIDS by 2010, and millions more orphaned by tuberculosis, malaria and conflict or whose parents are sick and dying,” she said.

Jolie and Pitt celebrated the birth of their child Shiloh at the end of May. The couple travelled to Namibia for the birth.
