Police Release Identity Of Woman Stabbed To Death At Downtown Rooming House

Police have identified the woman stabbed to death at a downtown townhouse complex Wednesday.

Larisa Belekova, 51, was attacked in the basement office of the rooming house she operated on Homewood Avenue, near Sherbourne and Carlton, just after 10:30am. When paramedics arrived at the scene she had no vital signs and doctors couldn’t revive her once she arrived at hospital.

Belekova owned and operated three townhouses that made up the Dara Residence, which provides meals, activities and accommodation for people with mental illness. Neighbours say she often went above and beyond to help her tenants.

Police arrested 46-year-old Roble Nour Adam at the scene and he’s been charged with second-degree murder. He reportedly moved into the rooming house recently and is scheduled to appear in a downtown court Thursday morning.

Authorities are asking anyone with information on this case to contact them at (416) 808-7400 or Crime Stoppers at (416) 222-TIPS.
