First Nations Group Planning Blockade On Hwy. 400 Or 403 Day Before G20

G20 organizers have warned of significant traffic delays due to dignitaries’ motorcades and on Thursday a First Nations group warned it may block off a major highway the day before the summit.

Commuters who rely on Highways 400 or 403 to get to work may need to make alternate plans for next Thursday. Red Power United plans to set up a non violent blockade on one of the thoroughfares, despite apparent warnings from CSIS and the Integrated Security Unit.

Protest organizer Harrison Frieson said the blockade is meant to send the message that “everything is not OK in Canada for native people.”

Red Power United has been planning the action since April.
