A pep rally for teachers at the Air Canada Centre has one trustee fuming.
Josh Matlow told the Toronto Sun the money could be better spent on initiatives that would directly benefit students, like fixing schools and special education programs.
The event, called “Believe it! Our Time is Now” was held at the ACC on Wednesday. It cost $100,000 to book the venue.
The Toronto District School Board paid for musical acts and guest speakers as well as tickets for teachers, support staff, parent reps, student reps and trustees; bringing the total cost to $127,000.
As many as 20,000 members of the TDSB are expected to attend.
