Police tentatively identify body found north of Bolton as Raquel Junio

Police say the body found in a pond north of Bolton Saturday is most likely that of missing 42-year-old Brampton woman Raquel Junio.

Police have “reasonable suspicion” to say the body is that of Junio, according to Peel Const. Adam Minnion.

Divers with Peel Regional Police removed the body from a pond just north of Bolton late Saturday night.

Police say an autopsy will be conducted Monday to confirm the identity. They also said they have spoken with members of Junio’s family.

Police were called to the Bolton area on Saturday as part of their search for Junio, 42, who was allegedly kidnapped on Thursday morning.

“We have been following leads all week, all day.  One of those leads has unfortunately led us to Palgrave Rotary Park off of county Road 50,” Const. Minnion told CityNews.

“I was having hope she would still be alive, but just [feeling] upset and hurt and shocked too because you don’t really believe it,” said Junio’s co-worker Krista Costelo.

“I’m in disbelief. It’s a shocker to be honest. She was a very nice lady, never thought it would happen to her,” said co-worker Enshul Kumar.

Two men have been charged in her disappearance, including her estranged husband, Macdermid Ermacora, 43.

Ermacora was taken into custody on Thursday. Gary Murray, 42, was arrested Friday night. Both men are facing charges of kidnapping, forcible confinement, and assault.

Those charges could be upgraded to first or second-degree murder, or manslaughter.

Junio was allegedly abducted from her Deerfield Crescent home by Ermacora early on Thursday morning. Junio has a three-year-old daughter who is staying with relatives.

“It’s just devastating, especially for her family. The kids and that now have to deal with everything,” said Junio’s neighbour Melanie Jesso.

Police are looking to speak with anyone who may have information, especially anyone who may have seen Ermacora’s truck. Click here to see video of the truck.
