Guinness World Records 2012 book has many wacky feats

Chris Walton hasn’t cut her fingernails in 18 years, and now her twisting and turning nails have earned her a world record in the newest edition of the Guinness World Records book.

Her nails measure a total of 10 feet two inches on her left hand and nine feet seven inches on her right hand.

Canadian representative of Guinness World Records, Carey Low, stopped by Breakfast Television on Thursday to chat about Walton’s feat and other weird and wacky entries to this year’s book.

Canadian figure skater Patrick Chan received three nods from Guinness World Records for his record-breaking achievement of best score in the short, long and overall performance at the World Figure Skating Championship in April in Moscow.

Other entries to this year’s edition include:

• Most balloons popped in a minute (57) using a pogo stick: Mark Alridge of Crowthorn, Berkshire, United Kingdom.
• Tallest living man (eight feet three inches): Sultan Kösen of Ankara.
• Most downloaded podcast (261,670 per episode): The Ricky Gervais Show.
