‘Twilight: Breaking Dawn’ Canadian premiere Thursday

“Twi-hards” – the nickname for fans of the Twilight series of movies – are counting down to Thursday night’s Canadian premiere of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1.

The red-carpet event will take place at the Winter Garden Theatre downtown, and two of the stars from the movie — Jackson Rathbone and Ashley Greene  — are expected to be in attendance, according to radio station 680News. They play Jasper and Alice in the movie.

The romance-fantasy follows the story of Isabella (Bella) Swan, who moves to a small town in Washington and falls in love with a 104-year-old vampire named Edward Cullen.

On Monday, the Hollywood premiere brought out Twilight stars Greene, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner and Robert Pattinson.  They walked the red carpet greeting hundreds of screaming fans.

The Twilight series of novels and movies have gained huge popularity since Stephenie Meyer’s first novel, Twilight, was released in 2005. The first movie came out in 2008.

The first part of the two-part finale is expected to bring in $140 million across Canada and the U.S. this weekend – just shy of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2’s record-setting debut of $169 million.
