‘A Dangerous Method’ gets 11 Genie nominations

A Dangerous Method is among the contenders for best picture as the Genie Award nominations were announced Tuesday.

The film is directed by Torontonian David Cronenberg and stars Michael Fassbender, Viggo Mortensen and Keira Knightley.

Cronenberg is also nominated for best director, while Fassbender and Mortenson picked up acting nods. In total, A Dangerous Method was nominated for 11 awards.

Still, that trailed Café de Flore, which garnered 13 nominations, including best picture.  The film, written and directed by Jean-Marc Vallee (he also helmed C.R.A.Z.Y.), follows two seemingly unconnected – and unconventional – love stories in Paris and Montreal.

The 32nd Genie Awards will be held March 8 in Toronto and will be broadcast on CBC.
