City & Waterfront Toronto to unveil revised Port Lands plan on Saturday

The City and Waterfront Toronto will present proposed changes to plans for the Port Lands on Saturday.

Earlier this week, the Globe and Mail reported that alterations to the plan would save $150-million, but have outraged architects of the original vision.

City council requested the review last September after Coun. Doug Ford argued the city should take back more control of the Port Lands from Waterfront Toronto.

Waterfront Toronto’s original plan included a $625 million project to revitalize the area near the mouth of the Don River, including the West Don Lands and central waterfront.

The city wants to scale that back and preserve more land for possible development.

Members of the public will have the chance to offer their input and feedback into the future of the Port Lands at a series of open house community workshops starting this weekend.

Here’s how to take part:

Information Open House: Saturday, 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. (drop in) at the Design Exchange, 234 Bay St.

Feedback Workshops: Tuesday, April 3, 6:30-9:30 p.m. at St. Lawrence Hall, The Great Hall, 157 King St. E.

or

Wednesday, April 4, 6:30-9:30 p.m. at the Westin Harbour Castle, Metro West Ballroom, 1 Harbour Sq.
