A man was struck and killed by a GO train on Thursday morning in Burlington.

Police say the man was hit by the train around 6 a.m. near Burloak Drive, near Appleby station.

Authorities haven’t released the man’s name or age.

GO Transit experienced serious problems on its Lakeshore West and East lines as a result. Train service on the Lakeshore West line was suspended between Hamilton GO Centre and the Oakville GO station for about three hours, resuming just before 9 a.m. GO said delays would continue as they worked to get trains back on schedule.

During the investigation, GO cancelled three trains on the Lakeshore East line.

The Kitchener line was also affected.
