SIU probing crash in Mississauga

The province’s police watchdog is investigating a crash in Mississauga on Thursday morning that injured two people.

An Audi travelling south at a high rate of speed went over an embankment on Mississauga Road, south of Dundas Street West, around 2:30 a.m.

It took firefighters about 15 minutes to rescue the male driver and female passenger. The 20-year-old man suffered a serious, but non-life-threatening head injury.

The female passenger suffered minor injuries.

The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) says police officers started following the Audi when it turned onto Mississauga Road from Dundas Street.

The SIU investigates incidents involving civilians that result in serious injury, death or allegations of sexual assault.
