Frost warning issued for Toronto parts of GTA

Environment Canada has issued a frost warning for Toronto and much of the GTA.

The agency said temperatures will dip below freezing overnight Sunday, bringing patches of frost in Toronto, York, Peel and Durham regions and the city of Hamilton.

Gardeners are being advised to protect their plants by covering them or bringing them inside.

A dose of the colder weather was felt in Toronto as hail fell Sunday afternoon. The city is included in a special weather statement about unseasonably cool weather in southern Ontario for the next few days.

Newmarket residents reported seeing blowing snow and there were reports of sleet in the Barrie area.

More seasonal temperatures are expected to return by the middle of the week.
