Purse stolen from woman who died at College station: police

Police are searching for a thief who stole the contents from the purse of a woman who jumped to her death in a TTC subway station Wednesday morning.

Police say the woman left her purse on the subway platform before jumping in front of a train at College station.

She was taken to hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Police say another woman went through the victim’s purse and made off with the contents.

An image of the suspect was taken from a surveillance camera.

She is described as white, 40 years old, five-foot-four with a medium build with brown hair.

She was wearing a blue floral dress and white watch on her left wrist.

Subway service on the Yonge line was shut down in the height of morning rush hour between Union and Bloor stations because of the incident.
