Voice recorder retrieved after deadly air ambulance crash

Investigators hope a voice recorder recovered from a the site of a deadly Ornge air ambulance crash on Friday will help determine what happened.

The Transportation Safety Board plans to analyze the cockpit recorder’s contents at its Ottawa lab.

Investigators say the debris suggests the helicopter crashed at a high speed.

The Sikorsky S-76 had just left its base in Moosonee to pick up a patient in the remote community of Attawapiskat when it crashed, killing the two pilots and paramedics onboard.

The victims are Capt. Don Filliter, 54, of Skead, Ont., first officer Jacques Dupuy, 43, of Otterburn-Park, Que., paramedic Dustin Dagenais, 34, of Moose Factory, Ont., and paramedic Chris Snowball, 38, of Burlington.
