Boy, 14, charged with manslaughter in teen’s death

A 14-year-old boy, whose name is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, has been charged with manslaughter in the death of a 16-year-old boy, Toronto police confirm.

The victim was shot in the neck on Sunday night at an apartment complex at 2240 Weston Rd. south of Highway 401.

He died later in hospital.

Police tell CityNews, the boy was visiting the complex and lived about one kilometre away.

The suspect is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday at 10 a.m.

CLARIFICATION: The name of the victim, which was first disclosed by police, can no longer be identified under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
