A 56-year-old woman on a scooter was instantly killed when she was struck by a big rig at Gerrard Street East and Carlaw Avenue in Toronto’s east end on Tuesday morning.
The collision happened around 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday.
The woman was hit by the tractor-trailer as it made a wide turn onto Carlaw.

Witnesses say other vehicles were honking their horns, trying to alert the truck driver to the impending collision, but he didn’t react in time.
