Don Cherry says he’s disappointed with Toronto Mayor Rob Ford.
“If he could just cut out all the rest of the stuff as a mayor, he’s done a great job, everybody thinks that, but I am disappointed…” Cherry told Sportsnet 590 The Fan on Monday morning.
Last week, Ford admitted to smoking crack and has been urged by many councillors to take a leave of absence and seek treatment.
Cherry, a staunch conservative, has been a long-time supporter of the mayor.
During Ford’s inaugural city council meeting as mayor in 2010, the hockey commentator made a controversial speech that set the tone for a term marked by great division between left and right.
“… I say he’s going to be the greatest mayor this city has ever seen, as far as I’m concerned, and put that in your pipe, you left-wing kooks. Thank you very much.”
