2 killed in crash with tractor-trailer in Mississauga

Two people are dead after a crash between a tractor-trailer and a taxi in Mississauga.

The truck rear-ended the Blue & White Taxi cab at Hurontario Street and Derry Road around 4 a.m. Saturday.

The collision was so great the taxi came to a rest about 100 meters away from the point of impact, before bursting into flames.

“As a result of the collision a fire engulfed the taxi cab and killed both the driver and passenger – a fare in the cab.” P.C. Thomas Ruttan told CityNews.

The name and ages of the victims have not been released by police.

However, friends have identified the taxi driver as Adnan Ahmed Junejo, a father of two.

Ruttan said the taxi used propane for fuel, which is most likely why it caught fire so easily.

The truck driver wasn’t hurt in the crash and remained on scene.

There has been no word on charges. Police are asking witnesses to contact them.
