Police say an impaired driver was caught going 233 km/h on Highway 401 at Markham Road early Sunday morning.
An OPP officer, who was conducting speed enforcement, first spotted the driver of a Porsche Cayenne travelling eastbound on Hwy. 401 at Whites Road shortly before 4 a.m. He notified other officers who stopped and arrested the man without incident at Brock Street.
Police say the driver was impaired and that there was an outstanding warrant for him for failing to appear in court.
Calvin Williams, 29, of Mississauga, was charged with dangerous driving, stunt driving and impaired driving. He was scheduled for a court appearance on Sunday.
Police say the penalty for stunt driving is an automatic driver’s licence suspension and vehicle impoundment of seven days.
Those charged with impaired driving and/or driving with a blood-alcohol level over 80 mg will have their licence suspended for 90 days.
