2 men charged in Toronto’s 1st homicide of 2014

Toronto police have charged two men with second-degree murder in the city’s first homicide of 2014.

Last Saturday night police responded to a call and found a man suffering from serious head injuries at 1523 Birchmount Rd., south of Highway 401.

The victim, Osman Awad, 24, of Toronto, was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries. He died in hospital on Tuesday.

Police determined he was assaulted by two men and on Thursday they arrested Joey Dionne, 20, and Justine Dionne, 19, both of Toronto.

They are each facing a single charge of second-degree murder and will be back in court on Jan. 17.
