Boy George, Isabella Rossellini to perform at Toronto’s Luminato arts festival

Boy George and Isabella Rossellini will perform at this summer’s Luminato festival, a 10-day celebration of the arts.

The summer event runs from June 6 to June 15 in Toronto and will open with a sexy performance from actress Isabella Rossellini.

She’ll bring her Green Porno series to the Winter Garden Theatre on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, highlighting the intricacies of animal and plant sex. The show, based on Rossellin’s Green Porn film series for the Sundance Channel, sees the actress don fur, skins, scales and wings to act out the naughty acts.

Also that night — and every night until June 15 — Toronto musician Jason Collett will host impromptu appearances and unscripted performances as part of his Basement RevueThe event, which is more than a concert, takes place at the Edward Day Gallery and is the official site of the nightly after-party.

Luminato is partnering with WorldPride for a one-night show directed by Rufus Wainwright. WorldPride runs June 20-29 and replaces this year’s Pride events. As a preview to the event, Wainwright has put together a musical show If I Loved You: Gentlemen Prefer Broadway — An Evening Of Love Duets.

The event will see male singers singing about men, including in duets traditionally written for a man and a woman.

Boy George, David Byrne, Josh Groban, and Scarborough’s own Steven Page — formerly of the Barenaked Ladies — will all perform.

The festival Hub is located at David Pecaut Square at 55 John St., but events take place across the city.  Click here for the full lineup.
