Thousands celebrate Easter at Beaches parade

Thousands lined the streets for the 48th annual Toronto Beaches Lions Easter Parade in Toronto’s east end on Sunday.

The floats and marching bands hit the streets at 2 p.m., starting at Queen Street East and Munro Park and heading west to Woodbine Avenue.

In past years, politicians representing the local riding have been invited to take part, but this time they’ve been asked to stay away.

Organizers made the decision earlier this month and said the policy will likely be in place for future parades.

The leading mayoral candidates said they would respect the decision, including Rob Ford who donated the 10,000 eggs he bought for the event to the Lakeshore Lions Club.
