Man shot on Exhibition grounds during Drake after-party

A man in his 30s was rushed to hospital in life-threatening condition after a shooting on CNE grounds near Muzik nightclub early Tuesday.

The victim was hit in the torso when shots rang out around 4 a.m.

He was conscious when he arrived at St. Michael’s Hospital.

The nightclub distanced itself from the violence in a release Tuesday.

“Contrary to reports, there was no shooting at Muzik nightclub. This unfortunate incident occurred some distance away from our premises at 4 a.m., long after Muzik had closed.”

“At the time, there were large numbers of people in the area as a result of the multitude of events on in the city during the long weekend. There was never any threat to Muzik’s guests or staff. The evening at Muzik was safe and incident free.”

The club was playing host to the official after party of Drake’s OVO Fest, boasting on posters and social media that the rapper and special guests would be in attendance. It is not clear whether Drake did make an appearance.

There is no word on any suspects.
