Man charged with attempted murder after stabbing in Mississauga fast-food restaurant

A 21-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder after a stabbing inside a combination Tim Hortons and Wendy’s restaurant.

The incident happened on Friday shortly before 1:30 p.m. at Britannia Road and Terry Fox Way.

Police say the 44-year-old victim was eating at the restaurant when he was approached from behind by the suspect and stabbed.

The man was rushed to hospital with serious injuries.

The suspect then reportedly exited the restaurant and fled south west across Britannia Road toward a townhouse complex.

Police say the suspect and the victim did not know each other.

On Monday Morad Maher Thaher was arrested and charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault and assault with a weapon.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.
