The winter season is quickly approaching, but it is not all gloom and doom, especially if you love to skate outdoors.
On Saturday, 15 city outdoor ice rinks will open for skating.
Among them, Nathan Phillips Square and the new, covered rink and skating path at Greenwood Park.
The rinks will operate until the season ends on March 22, 2015.
The other 36 outdoor rinks are scheduled to open on Nov. 29, weather permitting, and operate until Feb. 22, 2015.

All children under the age of six must wear a Canadian Standards Association-approved hockey helmet on the ice.
Helmets are also mandatory for people of all ages participating in supervised shinny hockey and learn-to-skate programs.
