Man, 23, dies in DVP single-vehicle crash

Toronto police say a man has died after a single-vehicle crash on the northbound Don Valley Parkway early Monday morning.

The driver, a 23-year-old man, was rushed to hospital without vital signs.

His car crashed into the ditch on the DVP near Millwood Road, around 4 a.m., shutting down all northbound lanes from Bayview-Bloor to Don Mills Road since around 5 a.m.

The car was heading northbound when it veered off the roadway, slammed through a guardrail — tearing out a section around two metres long — and then plowed into the ditch and trees. It travelled around 10 metres further along the ditch.

The DVP partially reopened just before 8:30 a.m. However, police said one lane would remain closed for repairs. The highway fully reopened at 9:45 a.m.

Police had initially closed the lanes from Don Mills to the Gardiner Expressway.
