Police say jammed gun the only thing that saved girl, 11, during Vaughan heist

A Vaughan jewelry store owner lost valuable merchandise during an armed robbery last August, but he came perilously close to a much more devastating and irreplaceable loss — his 11-year-old daughter.
During the brazen daylight heist one of two women who stormed the Asia Gold Inc. store on Steeles Avenue West pointed a gun at the little girl’s head and pulled the trigger.
Miraculously, the gun jammed.
The suspects, two women believed to be in their 20s, remain at large. They entered the store feigning interest in a necklace purchase but their true, sinister intentions soon become clear when they pulled out weapons.
One brandished a handgun, the other a Taser.
During the robbery, the owner was shot at and tasered. Another employee was also jolted.
The owner, who didn’t want to be identified on camera, said he’s still looking over his shoulder in fear.
“It’s so scary, but what can I do? Without (a) gun, we can’t do anything,” he said, turning to cautiously eye passing cars.
“I’m watching who’s coming,” he admits. “Yeah, I’m just nervous and scared.”
Three male suspects also tried to enter the store, police said, but were unable to get past the security system.
All five suspects then fled the scene in a four-door, black coloured BMW.
Det. Sgt. Michael Fleischaker believes they intended to kill the little girl.
“They (suspects) are not uncomfortable doing what they had done,” he said. “They (were) fully intent to cause seriously bodily harm to somebody or even kill somebody, in particular an 11-year-old girl.”
Suspect #1: Female, black, between 22 and 27 years of age with short black cropped hair. She was last seen wearing a black, grey and white shawl with lightning bolt design, a grey shirt, sunglasses, white socks and black shoes. She was carrying a purse and was armed with a handgun.
Suspect #2: Female, black with a lighter complexion, 22 to 27 years old, long black, frizzy hair. She was last seen wearing a beige baseball hat, white running shoes, black yoga pants and a black t-shirt. She was armed with a Taser.
Suspect #3: Male, black, and was dressed in all black, wearing sunglasses and white gloves. He was carrying a black duffel bag.
Suspect #4: Male, black, and was dressed in all black with a red baseball hat.
Suspect #5: Male, black, and was wearing a black hoodie, black pants and white gloves. He was carrying a bag.
