Toronto police have issued a Canada-wide warrant for a man they believe is tied to an abandoned vehicle found on Dec. 4 with guns in the trunk.
Police said officers on patrol came across a Mercedes that appeared to have jumped the middle curb on Transit Road and came to a stop on the eastbound curb, just west of Allen Road. The vehicle had been abandoned while still running, lights on and doors unlocked.
After inspecting the vehicle, police found a loaded 9mm Norinco pistol, a loaded .45-calibre pistol and a loaded ‘Tec9’ 9mm sub-machine gun.
Investigators from the Gun and Gang Task Force have identified the suspect as Javier Gomez, 26, of Toronto.
Gomez is wanted for numerous firearms offences and car theft.
Police said Gomez is considered armed and dangerous and are warning the public to not approach him but call 911 instead.
