Man charged after ‘physical altercation’ on Calgary-Toronto flight

By News staff

For the second time in two days, a passenger is facing charges after an incident onboard an Air Canada flight.

Peel police say the 34-year-old man was arrested Thursday after getting into a “physical altercation” while travelling from Calgary to Pearson International Airport.

The flight landed in Toronto at 6 a.m. He was taken into custody after arriving at the airport.

Ahmed Kochi Hissein-Warimi, of Calgary, is charged with mischief, six counts of breaching probation, and endangering the safety of an aircraft. He will appear in a Brampton court on Thursday.

It’s not yet known what led to the altercation.

On Wednesday, an Alberta man was charged after police say he assaulted a flight attendant on an Air Canada flight en route to India, forcing the plane to return to Toronto.

The plane had to turn around about two-and-a-half hours into the flight due to an “incident involving a disruptive passenger.”

Jaskaran Sidhu, 47, was charged with assault causing bodily harm, endangering the safety of an aircraft and two counts of mischief.

The flight attendant was treated for injuries, but police and Air Canada officials have not said what the injuries were.
