Fire rips through abandoned Burlington home, barn saved

By News staff

A fire ripped apart an abandoned home in Burlington overnight and crews were worried it could have spread to a nearby barn.

The building went up in smoke just before midnight.

It was located on Walkers Line just north of Highway 407.

Firefighters were NOT able to reach a hydrant and had to bring in pools of water.

No one was injured but officials had to prevent embers from igniting a nearby barn filled with livestock.

It’s not clear what started the fire.
