Woodbine Racetrack announces $50 million expansion plan

By News Staff

The company that runs Woodbine Racetrack is now planning to build a huge entertainment venue on the Rexdale property.

Woodbine Entertainment Group and Trinity Development Group have announced plans for a 165,000-sq. foot venue with seating for up to 5,000 people.

The cost of the expansion is estimated at $50 million.

It would be adjacent to the current Woodbine Racetrack facility and occupy three to four acres of the 680-acre Woodbine property.

The plan is for it to host a wide range of live entertainment.

Trinity was involved in the recent redevelopment of Lansdowne Park in Ottawa, which brought in 1.5 million visitors in its first year of operations last year.
