Toronto police are seeking the public’s help in identifying a murder suspect from a 14-year-old cold case.

Police were called to the Four Winds Drive area, near Finch Avenue West and Keele Street, around 8 p.m. on Feb. 10, 2002. When officers arrived at the scene, they found Lin Tao, 19, suffering from stab wounds. She was pronounced dead in hospital.

Police have released a YouTube video with more information about the case, as well as a sketch of the suspect.

In the video, Det.-Sgt. Stacy Gallant said he believes the suspect was cut during the attack. He may have also resided in the area.

“He may have suffered an unexplained injury at the time, leaving a scar, likely on one of his hands or arms,” Gallant said.

A tuque with three Pokemon figures on it was found at the scene. Gallant said DNA profile from the toque matches that of the blood found at the scene.

Investigators believe the DNA evidence found at the scene can link a suspect to the crime.

Police are appealing to the suspect’s friends who know or may have known him to come forward.

“We have his DNA, so all we need from you is his name,” Gallant said in the video.

The suspect is male, possibly Asian and has pale complexion. He is five-feet six-inches to five-feet seven-inches tall, 130 pounds and with a slender build.

Police believe the victim knew the suspect, but the extent of their relationship is not clear.
