The first budget from the Trudeau government will be unveiled in just days. The Liberals are going to post a large deficit, and it could be as high as 30-billion dollars. To discuss the first fiscal plan from the grits we’re joined by Conservative MP Tony Clement.

Maclean’s Ottawa Bureau Chief John Geddes joins later in the show to give his thoughts on the upcoming budget.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has ended the senate drought and appointed 7 new Senators to the upper chamber. They include a judge, a Paralympian and a journalist. Former House of Commons law clerk Rob Walsh discusses the class of 2016 and the challenges for an independent Senate.

And it looks like NDP Leader Thomas Mulcair is at risk of losing his job. There is a growing number of disgruntled New Democrats, just ahead of a leadership review at the party’s convention. We’re joined by former MP Jamie Nicholls, who is calling for renewal within the NDP.
