Toronto man charged with fraud in alleged travel agent scam

A 44-year-old man has been charged with fraud for allegedly bilking over 80 people in a travel agent scam.

According to Toronto police, 44-year-old Frank Cardona was arrested and charged with fraud over $5,000 for allegedly accepting payment for travel plans that were never booked.

Police say that since February 2015, Cardona allegedly made travel plans and itineraries and accepted payment for travel plans that he never delivered on.

Cardona is an independent contractor who was operating under the umbrella of Tri-World Travel. Police say the fraud value is over $100,000.

Police advise consumers to ensure they’re making purchases through accredited providers, and to do research before making any online transactions.
