Trending: Parrot may be called to testify in murder trial

By News Staff

Talk about a witness singing like a bird.

A Michigan prosecutor is weighing a decision to let a parrot testify in the murder of Martin Duram.

According to the victim’s family, the bird has been repeating a loud, profanity-laced argument between a male and a female, that indicates Duram’s wife, Glenna, shot him.

“Don’t f—ing shoot!” the parrot has repeatedly been squawking.

“I believe with all my heart that those are the last words of Marty,” Martin’s former wife, Christine Keller, told the Detroit Free Press. “I recognize two different voices screaming and yelling and it always ends with, ‘Don’t f—ing shoot.'”

“It is something we are going to be looking at to determine if it’s reliable to use or if it’s information we need to prosecute this case,” said attorney Robert Springstead. “It’s an interesting novelty and it’s been a great opportunity for me to learn about African parrots.”

Strange as it may sound, it wouldn’t be the first time an animal has been called to testify.

In 2008, a dog named “Scooby” was called to the witness box to see how he reacted to a suspect in a murder case.

The dog was said to have “barked furiously.”
