Blue Jays change beer sale policy ahead of Sunday’s playoff game

By News Staff

The Toronto Blue Jays have announced a change in their policy when it comes to beer sales at the Rogers Centre.

The team says as part of its enhanced security and alcohol management, all beer will be poured and served in cups for the remaining home games during the playoffs.

The move comes in the wake of a beer can throwing incident during last Tuesday’s Wild Card playoff game against the Baltimore Orioles.

The incident – which triggered a frenzy online and in the stands – saw a beer can narrowly miss Orioles outfielder Hyun Soo Kim as he made a catch during the seventh inning. In the confusion that followed, Orioles outfielder Adam Jones said he and Kim were also taunted with racial slurs.

A Hamilton man has been charged with mischief in connection with the incident.
