Streep takes on Trump, he calls her an ‘overrated actress’

President-elect Donald Trump plunged Monday into another fight with a high-profile critic, this time in a three-part tweet responding to actress Meryl Streep’s denunciation of him from the stage of the Golden Globe Awards.

Trump called the Academy Award winner who had supported Democrat Hillary Clinton “one of the most overrated actresses in Hollywood” and “a Hillary flunky who lost big.”

While Streep was accepting the Cecil B. DeMille lifetime achievement award during the awards ceremony on Sunday night, she blasted Trump in her speech.

“Hollywood is crawling with outsiders and foreigners. If you kick them all out, you’ll have nothing to watch but football and mixed martial arts – which are not the arts!,” Streep exclaimed.

Streep also called out Trump for making fun of a disabled New York Times reporter.

“It kind of broke my heart when I saw that. I still can’t get it out of my head because it wasn’t in a movie, it was real life,” Streep said.

The speech spanned six minutes and was the longest of the night.

She never said the president-elect’s name, which many say was also a powerful message with the Golden Globes the last high-profile Hollywood event before the presidential inauguration on Jan. 20.
