The owner of a chiropractic clinic in Burlington has died after he was shot in what appears to be an attempted murder-suicide.
Halton police were called to the Mejilla Family Chiropractic Clinic on Plains Road East, east of Waterdown Road, around noon on Thursday.
Both the victim and the shooter were rushed to hospital in critical condition.
Dr. Ferdinand “Fred” Mejilla, 50, later died in hospital of his injuries.
Police said the shooter, David Williamson, 44, remains in hospital in critical condition with what is believed to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Williamson was a one-time patient of Mejilla. Beyond that, their relationship is not known, police said. The homicide unit is investigating.
