Transportation Safety Board investigating runway incident at Pearson

By News Staff

The Transportation Safety Board is investigating what it calls a runway incursion at Pearson International Airport.

A runway incursion involves either two aircraft or a ground vehicle and an aircraft coming into conflict on a runway surface.

Few details are available but a spokesperson for the TSB says shortly after 11 a.m., an Envoy Air flight operated by American Airlines out of JFK landed safely at Pearson and was involved in an incursion. Chris Krepski could not say at this time what type of vehicle the other one was.

A spokesperson for Pearson said there were no injuries or operational impact as a result of the incursion.

Krepski added investigators will be looking at a number of factors including conditions at the time, weather, staffing levels and whether or not one of the airports main runways being off-line due to rehabilitation work played a role in the incident.
