A woman in her 20s is fighting for her life after a house fire in Brampton.
Emergency crews rescued the woman from a home on Mount Fuji Crescent, near Bovaird Drive and Airport Road. The fire began around 11:15 a.m. on Monday.
“Crews arrived to find heavy smoke and flame at a semi-detached home,” Brampton fire platoon chief Ed Davis told 680 NEWS.
The woman was found on the basement stairs. The fire likely started in the basement, Davis said.
It did not spread to the other half of the semi, and no other injuries were reported.
Peel paramedics say they performed CPR on the woman and successfully resuscitated her. She is now in hospital.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
