Bay Street reopens after glass falls from Four Seasons hotel

By News Staff

Bay Street has reopened on Wednesday after glass fell from the Four Seasons Hotel on Tuesday night.

Bay between between Yorkville Avenue and Scollard Street was off-limits to drivers and pedestrians were not able to use the sidewalks. The roadway reopened just after 9 a.m.

In a statement, the hotel said around 10:30 p.m. a north-facing window in the west tower broke, shattering glass down onto Bay and Scollard.

No injures have been reported.

The streets are closed as workers examine all the other windows in the building.

“We take this incident very seriously and are working diligently to take all necessary precautions to resolve this matter as quickly as possible in cooperation with the local authorities. As always, the safety and security of our guests and neighbours remains of utmost importance to us,” the hotel said.

This is not the first time that glass has fallen from the building. It happened in August of 2013, in September of 2015, and in June of 2016.
