One man is in custody and police are searching for two more suspects following a brazen daylight shooting in Oakville.
Halton Regional Police were called to the area of Cornwall and Trafalgar roads around 9:30 a.m. on Friday.
Katrina, who works in a nearby salon, says she saw two people lurking in the parking lot before the shooting began.
“Just sitting here doing my morning calls and then I see these two guys come from the forest, they walked in front of my car, they had huge hoods up,” she explained. “That’s what kind of caught my eye because it’s so hot out.”
Minutes later she says she saw police run by with guns drawn but she did not actually hear the shooting.
Witnesses say the victim left the Sunset Grill and there was some sort of altercation before someone pulled out a gun and opened fire.
Another witness said they saw two men in hoodies with bandannas across their faces looking into people’s cars in the parking lot.
A 35-year-old man was transported to hospital in critical condition.
Police arrested one of three suspects and recovered a pickup truck with Quebec license plates a short distance from the scene of the shooting. They are looking for two other suspects.
One suspect is black with darker skin. He is approximately six-feet tall and 200 pounds, with a slim build. He was wearing dark, long pants and a dark shirt.
The second suspect is black, between five-foot-nine-inches and five-foot-10-inches tall. His hair was in tight cornrows.
Both suspects were last seen fleeing on foot.
A section of the Lakeshore West GO Transit line was temporarily shut down during a pursuit of the suspects. The tracks have since reopened and regular train service has resumed.
