Fish breading mix recalled due to salmonella concerns

By News Staff

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency has issued a recall for a brand of fish breading/batter mix due to possible salmonella contamination.

Officials says you should not consume Shore Lunch brand Fish Breading/Batter Mix, either the Cajun style or original recipe. The brands affected contain the following UPC codes:

  • 0 24739 19363 5
  • 0 24739 19362 8

The packages have an expiry date of January 17 and January 18, 2018.

The CFIA says there have been no reported illnesses and that consumers should either throw out the product or return it to the store where it was purchased.

Food contaminated with salmonella may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick. Some of the symptoms include fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps and diarrhea.
