Toronto neurosurgeon charged in wife’s murder in court on Tuesday

Mohammed Shamji, charged with first-degree murder in the death of his wife Elana Fric Shamji, will appear in court on Tuesday.
Shamji, 40, is also accused of committing an indignity to a body. He was denied bail last week.
The body of Fric Shamji was found in a suitcase near the underpass of a bridge beside the West Humber River in Vaughan on Dec. 1. She was also a doctor, a family physician. Police said she died of strangulation and blunt force trauma.
They were married for over 12 years and had three young children.
