1 in hospital after mattress fire in Toronto’s west end

One person is in serious condition after being rescued from a fire in Little Portugal on Saturday afternoon.
It happened around 12:30 p.m. on Florence Street, near Queen and Dufferin.
Firefighters managed to knock down the fire, which started on a mattress, producing high heat.
Firefighters rescued someone from a second-floor balcony, and paramedics took the person to Toronto General Hospital in serious condition.
