Man, 23, seriously injured in Scarborough stabbing

A 23-year-old man was sent to Sunnybrook hospital with serious injuries to the abdomen after being stabbed outside a Tim Hortons in the Guildwood Plaza in Scarborough Friday morning.

The incident happened at around 10 a.m. and the victim managed to make his way home before calling police and paramedics. He is expected to survive.

According to Staff Sergeant Kevin Murrell, police have made some progress in their investigation.

“We have a suspect identified for that stabbing, a 17-year-old male, at this point we are not going to identify him but we are presently making arrangements for him to turn himself in”.

There are several schools in the area, including Sir Wilfrid Laurier Collegiate Institute, but so far no word on if any local students were involved in this stabbing.

Police however did tell CityNews that the fight happened between two individuals that appear to know each other.

The stabbing took place just steps away from Muddy Paws, a pet store and grooming salon, where another incident involving youth took place last week.

That incident saw a fight break out between two students from Sir Wilfrid Laurier Collegiate Institute, which resulted in one of them getting thrown into a window.

No one was injured but the damage was significant.
